Ross Durand 2010 Highlights
Here are some highlights of my year in songwriting. The songs were written and recorded for a variety of purposes under a variety of circumstances and the recording quality may vary accordingly. Either way, I hope the songs come through.
Folsom Breakout Blues
Written for the Spintunes 2 online songwriting competition. The Challenge was to write a sequel to a famous song.
From There
Written for the Spintunes 2 online songwriting competition. The challenge was to write about your home town. This song is about Thousand Oaks, but I think it is about a lot of places.
You Chose Me
It is fun connecting with other songwriters online. One of the other Spintunes songwriters created a cycle, where each of us wrote based on challenges from another. This song was written in response to a challenge by Kevin Savino-Riker, the songwriter who beat me in the final round of Spintunes 1. The challenge was to write a song from the point of view of my pet. Dedicated to Copernicus.
'Nuff Love
Written on a hike at Arrowbear Music Camp. I've wanted to write this song for a long time. Recorded on my iPad in the "A" building.
That Sweet Smile
Written for the final round of an online songwriting contest called Spintunes. The challenge had to do with including at least three different musical styles that imlied geographic or cultural differences.
Dirt Nap
Another Songfight Song - so the title was given. References to Dylan intentional. :-)
The Middle Part
Written for the title part at songfight.org. But I really like this one!
When Did You Know
Another winner at Songfight.org, my first solo win in several years. The title was given.
After Hours
Written for songfight.org, the title was given. This song was a winner that week.
